Die Lehrveranstaltungen des Fachgebiets haben zum Ziel, sowohl das theoretische Verständnis für Fragen der Architekturkommunikation und -vermittlung zu fördern als auch konkrete praktische Fähigkeiten zu entwickeln. Im vierten Semester des Bachelor-Studiengangs bieten wir die Pflichtvorlesung „Einführung in die Architektur­kommunikation“ an, die einen kompakten Überblick über theoretische Konzepte und Anwendungsfelder gibt. Darauf aufbauend wird in unregelmäßiger Folge für das fünfte Semester eine Wahlpflichtveranstaltung zur verbalen und visuellen Rhetorik von Entwurfspräsentationen angeboten. Für den Masterbereich gibt es thematisch wechselnde Profilkurse, die sich jeweils einem aktuellen Anwendungsbereich der Architektur­kommunikation widmen und neben der theoretischen Analyse auch eine konzeptuelle Projektarbeit umfassen. Themen, die in diesem Rahmen behandelt wurden, sind unter anderem: Architekturausstellungen, Architektur in der Schule, Öffentliche Architekturdebatten, Architektur und Popkultur, Architekturkritik- und Journalismus.

Ein besonders wichtiger Teil der Lehre ist die Betreuung von Abschlussarbeiten. Leider lässt die Prüfungsordnung der Fakultät die Erstbetreuung durch Nicht-Entwurfsfachgebiete nicht zu, deswegen steht Prof. Rambow nur als Zweitprüfer zur Verfügung.

In den ersten zehn Jahren von a*komm (2009–2019) haben wir in dieser Funktion 118 Studierende auf dem erfolgreichen Weg zum Diplom bzw. Master begleitet. Thematisch gibt es dabei keine Einschränkungen, ein Bezug zu Fragen der Kommunikation und Vermittlung oder zu psychologischen Aspekten von Architektur und Stadt ist von Vorteil, aber keine notwendige Voraussetzung für die Übernahme der Zweitprüferfunktion. Wir arbeiten mit allen erstprüfungsberechtigten Professuren gern, vertrauensvoll und konstruktiv zusammen.

The department's courses aim to promote both a theoretical understanding of issues relating to architectural communication and mediation and to develop specific practical skills. In the fourth semester of the Bachelor's degree program, we offer the compulsory lecture "Introduction to Architectural Communication", which provides a compact overview of theoretical concepts and fields of application. Building on this, a compulsory elective course on the verbal and visual rhetoric of design presentations is offered at irregular intervals in the fifth semester. For the Master's program, there are thematically changing profile courses, each of which is dedicated to a current area of application of architectural communication and, in addition to theoretical analysis, also includes conceptual project work. Topics that have been dealt with in this context include: Architectural Exhibitions, Architecture in Schools, Public Architectural Debates, Architecture and Pop Culture, Architectural Criticism and Journalism.

A particularly important part of teaching is the supervision of final theses. Unfortunately, the faculty's examination regulations do not permit first supervision by departements which do not conduct design projects, which is why Prof. Rambow is only available as a second examiner.

In the first ten years of a*komm (2009-2019), we have accompanied 118 students in this function on their successful path to their diploma or Master's degree. There are no thematic restrictions; a connection to questions of communication and mediation or to psychological aspects of architecture and the city is an advantage, but not a necessary prerequisite for taking on the role of second examiner. We are happy to work with all professorships authorized to conduct first examinations in a trusting and constructive manner.
